I have several of Lifetime tables but these are really handy. The price and availability is excellent throught Amazon. Hard to find on the street, (for me anyway). Make sure you check Amazon site carefully because of the same item having different prices. These tables are easily adjustable and are quite sturdy with some weight on them.

Review of Hunter 90021 12-Inch Oscillating Table Fan, Brushed Nickel

Hunter's 90021 Century 12-Inch Fan sports great looks and retro styling, though at a high price.While the quality control on these models isn't perfect, if you have any problems you can return or exchange it.You also have a very nice 5 year limited warrantee that comes with it.Bottom line, put it through the paces when you buy it!There are alternatives though, depending on what you are looking for.

Yep, it's made in China.That doesn't bother me at all.If it bothers you, look elsewhere.

What bothers me is that the silver version was listed at $70 and the black version at $80.Either price is too high, but they both sell for $60 which is also too high as far as I'm concerned.Why list the different colors of the same item at different prices?These fans sell at other retailers for $50 to $60, so the list prices here are hard to accept.

It's just a fan.I realize that some people pay top dollar for top of the line.This is just "above average" though.You'll want to step up to a Vornado Silver Swan Fan or one of those highly hyped Allaire fans from Restoration Hardware if you have even more money to burn on a desk fan.

After researching a number of fans, I saw this one at my friend's house and thought it was a decent compromise.My friend's fan ran smoothly with a lot of power and minimal noise (from the fan head, not the motor).Of course, I did read about others getting clunkers.If yours is noisy, or doesn't oscillate all the way or just stops working, that's the time to use your warrantee coverage!Hunter at least does honor their warrantee, which other companies don't always seem to do.

The main negative for me, other than price, is that I don't like the power adjustment lever being on the base.I would prefer it on the motor housing.Still, that's a minor thing and you might have a different preference.

For alternatives with similar metal bodies, look at the:

Vornado FA1-0003-13 Silver Swan Fan - For about $100 to $130 you get a fan that is made with more weight and *hopefully* durability and quality control.Seems a bit much for a fan though.

Soleus Air FT1-30-44 12-Inch Metal Table Fan - very comparable for about $30 to $40, but just not as attractive.There are other ones out there too.Might be worth the savings if you can't get the Hunter on sale.

- Not crazy about the adjustment slider being placed on the base
- Higher end versions are out there for those looking for the "very best" at any price

Conclusion

Review your options.If like me you just don't want to spend $130 on a fan, this might be the one for you.If you like Soleus, you might want to check out their cheaper more affordable fan.Get this on sale and you can come close in price with the Hunter.Just make sure to test it extensively and exchange it till you get agood one.

Review of Portable Picnic Table

I chose this roll-up table because it is lightweight, compact and adjustable in height.Sometimes, I'd like to have it low to the ground, like when on a picnic with no chairs.Sometimes, I'd like it higher, like when sitting in fold-out chairs.This table can accommodate.

About four people can comfortably sit with their plates around it.It holds up to 40 pounds, which I have not tested.I only need it to hold plates and cups.The slats do not lay flush, so don't use it to write a paper on.They are held together elastic cords, which I think may eventually break as they get worn, but that could easily be fixed.

A cap on one of the U-shaped support bars came off the first time I used the table, but it was easy to reinsert and would not have been missed had it completely been lost.

Set-up is quick and easy.The first time I tried opening the legs, I pulled them out the wrong direction.They can go one of two ways.If it doesn't don't look perpendicular when open, don't try and force it.Close it up and pull the leg to the other side.

We're going to get a lot of use from this table.Great buy.

UPDATE:We took this table to camp with us and it worked out well.The wood was a little warped, but everything still locked into place.I liked the height adjustable feature.We had lower chairs, so we set it low, but we could elevate it as needed.Still, this table may not last much longer.The wood just warped to quickly.I'll give it 3 1/2 stars and update more if it falls apart.

I've had one of these tables for a couple of years. The size is ideal. The height adjustment is molded into the underside of the top. Snap one end of the sissor leg into the slot (the height is marked next to the slot) and you're good to go. Heights are convenient from putting things close to eye level while sitting or being able to get on top of the work in a lower position. Great for laptops, reading, eating... well you name it. Getting one for my daughter who steals mine (portable, light weight and easy to move) and for grandma who likes to eat her meals in the TV room. My son at college loves his too. College kids need to stay portable and this is a great tool. I rave about few things. I think this product deserves it. Make sure you get the 30x20 model. There's a slightly smaller one I do not like as well.

Review of 2x4basics AnySize Chair or Bench Ends, Sand

I just finished assembling a 2x4basics AnySize Bench 11200 and am very happy with it.The bench assembly took a little longer than I thought it would.I think I worked on it for about two hours.I wasn't counting on having to drill pilot holes for the dozens of screws (included) that had to be used putting the bench together.Nor did I figure on spending so much time figuring out how to best sink the screws into the underside of the boards.Don't worry about slanting the screws into the wood a bit.It is impossible to get a drill into a perfect position for making a 90 degree hole.Most of the screws do not show anyhow.

It was necessary to tip the bench over in order drill pilot holes and to get at the screws.I had to clamp the 2x4's to the plastic/composite ends to keep them from falling off or moving out of position.I would recommend using a couple of small carpentry clamps to hold things in place while putting the bench together.

I had the 2x4's sanded and painted prior to attaching them to the plastic/composite ends so that took a little time, but probably not more than an additional hour.That probably saved time in the long run.Making this bench with the 2x4 basics kit is not a difficult project.

The 2x4 basics bench is solid and not all that heavy, but it isn't going to blow over in a high wind.I am quite satisfied with how the bench came out and somewhat surprised at how substantial it is.I thought it might twist and perhaps wiggle side to side--nope, it is a rock.

I am so pleased with this approach to building patio furniture that I will be recommending the product to friends.

I purchased 8 benches - 4 for our house and 4 as house warming gifts for friends who relocated to the country.These benches were a breeze to put together.After thinking it over I decided to incorporate 2x6s in place of 2x4s where I could to prevent warping.2x6 lumber fits perfect into this construction.I've attached photos above - check 2x6 construction.the 2x4 braces below make for solid shake-free benches.I sanded and finished mine with three coats of Thompsons "Honey Gold" tint Watersealant.After this summer and winter in OK I'll report back on how well these held up.All construction so far has been 6 feet long.

You have to realize it's wood you're working with and prepare accordingly.Measure to get the most of each cut from the length wood you buy.I purchased #2 Douglas Fir - it's a bit stronger than framing lumber.

Easy to follow instructions.Just add 9 ea. 2*4's.We made ours from 6' PT lumber.Two benches can be converted to a picnic table for added space when needed.I would not make this any longer than 6', even though the instructions indicate you can.Much beyond 6', you'd get a bow when average weight people sit.Even at 6', we had to add a stabilizer on the underside of the seat portion to give added strength to the 2*4's.One other caveat - be careful where your hands are located when lifting this.We assembled it on a table and then had to lift it to the ground.In the "bench" position, the back does not lock and can easily flip up and pinch fingers - as we now know from experience.It is, however, a nice project and gives versatility when entertaining.I'd have rated it a "5" if the back locked in place.

Review of Fold 'N Store Picnic Table

I was disappointed to find out how flimsy this picnic table bench seats are.We set it up in our basement for my son's birthday party.When there was two kids sitting on one side, you could see the bench seat bow. At the seams on the corner of the bench you could visibly see them wonting to pull apart from the bowing in the bench. These kids are only 2 to 4 that were on it. Definitely within the recommend weight & age limit!!!!Would not recommend!We believe it is unsafe & we are taking it back to the store!

Review of Fc30 Black Picnic Table Frame

I've got no training or aptitude for home projects, but I put this kit together myself will little to no cussing. It took a while for me to paint all surfaces of the wood with waterproof stain, but once that was done, assembly was just a matter of following the bouncing ball. Instructions wereclearly illustrated. I substituted deck screws for nails, and only made one goof, due to my failing to RTFD. Overall, it's a fun project. The table is really sturdy and stable, and is overall a good value.

Review of 2x4basics 17210 AnySize Picnic Table Kit, Green

My husband and I built this table in an afternoon and it looks great.We stained/sealed with a burgandy stain and it looks better than any finished table we could find.Very sturdy at 8 foot.We did find that if you wait to tighen the braces until after you have the tops of bench and table assembled it is easier to get the table "square".
